Disciples Making Disciples (or DMD training for short) is our church's chosen method for being intentional about disciple making. The four distinct training sessions vary in length of commitment and primary emphasis for your wholistic development as a disciple and disciple maker. These trainings are offered throughout the year on a rotating basis. See below for more details. Session 1: sitting with the father
Session 1 requires an eight week commitment. During this session , participants will explore the posture of "Sitting with the Father" as a learner (or disciple). The main emphasis of session 1 will be learning how to appropriately read, interpret, and apply the biblical text to your daily life. This session is a pre-cursor to all following sessions, and any leadership role within the FCC Kokomo family.
Session 2: standing with the son
Session 2 is offered in both an in-person six-week commitment, in addition to a three-day intensive format. During this session, participants will explore the posture of "Standing with the Son." The main emphasis of session 2 will be learning how to place our identity firmly in Christ, and how to trust Him fully with not only our life, but our reputation. During this session participants will learn what it means to "let Jesus be your defender" and to live a life that's truly set apart from worldly ideals and concern.
Session 3: Walking with the spirit
Session 3 is offered in an in-person six-week commitment format. During this session, participants will explore the posture of "Walking with the Spirit." The main emphasis of session 3 will be learning how to "keep in step with God's Spirit." Additionally, during this session participants will seek to discover their spiritual gifts, and their specific God-given purpose (diakonia) in life so that they can live each day with confidence, knowing they are not only keeping in step with God's Spirit, but that they are also being led by Him.
Session 4: Running with the bride
Session 4 is offered exclusively in a three-day intensive format. You will be required to complete session 3 before participating in session 4. During this session, participants will explore the posture of "Running with the Bride." The main emphasis of session 4 will be learning how your spiritual gifts and diakonia specifically can be used in conjunction with the mission of FCC Kokomo. By the end of this session you will not only have confidence in your service in the local church, but you will be given the opportunity to develop new ministry thrusts and step into church leadership in varying capacities. As a church, we will also be looking to expand our influence through your specific calling, and we will seek to discover ways that we can partner with you to send you into our community as a fully equipped missionary disciple maker.
